Repair of the sex doll fingers

Our hands are probably the most sensitive parts of us.
One of the biggest annoyances about us dolls is the relatively poor stability of our finger wires. Unless we have hand skeletons with joints, they are wires. (If you have jointed fingers, please see my other article, How to Repair Articulated Fingers.) These are mostly made of copper. A soft metal, but after repeated bending it will inevitably break. Usually close to the hand plate. The fingers flop around, hang down, it looks pathetic. In addition, at some point the wires with their sharp-edged breaking points will pierce the TPE of your hand and you can injure yourself.

A repair of the hands is therefore indicated.
This is a method that Steff developed - there are other options too.

INFO:
The cement can be heated and crumbled with an old old soldering iron at full throttle and a pencil-shaped tip. It's much quicker than with a milling machine, it doesn't make any dirt or noise, and you don't breathe in all the milling dust, which also smells horrible and messes up the whole place.

More detailed instructions are still being developed. During the next repair, we will take even more detailed pictures and create more precise tips.

Making individual fingers with just 2 joints. We leave out the joint for the third phalanx (phalanx distalis).

Please place your love doll in a stable position with your hand resting on a table with the inside facing up.

Please always use high-quality, sharp scissors when cutting TPE.

Feel the end of the hand plate where the wires come out and make a 3-4cm long cut there, parallel to the end edge of the hand plate.

Pull your hand a little longer to open the incision and locate the broken ends of the finger wires. Grab the ends with a pair of assembly pliers or combination pliers and carefully pull the wires out of your fingers. Please do this carefully, as the wires may be wrapped in textile tape, which is connected to the TPE.

Once you have removed all the wires, the cement in the hand plate needs to be loosened and removed. We use an old soldering iron with a lot of power (150W) and move the soldering tip between the wire stumps in the hand plate. The cement becomes brittle and can be levered out. This is a bit of hard work and doesn't work straight away.

Blow out the hand plate with compressed air and clean it so that there are no crumbs or dust in it.

Fixing Love Doll Wire Fingers: A Visual Step-by-Step Tutorial

1: Mariko very brave but also curious...

2: Cut just behind the end of the hand plate

3: The removed cement with the old wires

4: Depending on the size of the hand plate, cut brass tubes and insert them into the hand plate.

5: To do this, flatten the brass tubes a little so that they fit tightly into the hand plate. Sand the tubes and insert them into the hand plate with a light hammer using 2 components of glue

6: about 4-9mm still sticking out. The tube for the thumb can be left a little shorter. Do not fill the hand plate with glue. That is unnecessary. The tubes hold the individual fingers.

7: Make fingers. Copper wire breaks. We know this. The bending radii are too small, that's why. So I tightly twist two or three wires together. The effective length of the wires increases, and logically so does the bending radius.

8: Place PVC caps with a drop of superglue on the ends and roughly cut the finger to length.

9: Shape the finger into shape and separate it in the places where a joint should go. Insert and solder the joint. Danger! Thoroughly clean the finished soldered finger in a bowl with isopropanol so that the flux dissolves. Now attach the shrink tubing. White is better, black is a little visible through the finger.

10: Here you can see the range of motion as a test

11: All fingers ready

12: Now place your fingers in your hand and insert them into the respective tubes. Please protect the soldering areas below with aluminum foil.

13: Now quickly solder the twisted copper wire with the brass tube economically but quickly with a lot of heat. A 150W soldering gun is attached here.

14: Grip the hand plate with combination pliers on which a rubber clamps the handles together. This dissipates heat well. In the event of a defect, you can easily change the individual fingers. Now be sure to remove the flux again! Important people!

15: An almost natural hand and finger position.

16:

17: Bandage solder joints, hand plate and, if necessary, bare copper and weld by hand

18: Complete! Mariko is happy and amazed
